Community Pets Charitable Trust Purposes

(As stated in our Charitable Trust Deed)

The purposes of the Trust will be to be beneficial to the community by:

​

(i) Providing animal assisted activities to the wider community to enhance their physical, social and emotional wellbeing, as well as fostering a sense of community and inclusion through such activities;

(ii) Providing animal assisted activities to schools and any other learning facilities to provide support and assistance with reading programmes and any other educational programmes, and providing general support to students within their educational environment;

(iii) Assessing prospective volunteers and their pets for their suitability to assist with

the purposes and work of the Trust;

(iv) Fostering a supportive and engaged volunteer community and ensuring continued assessment of the suitability of volunteers;

(v) Ensuring the ongoing welfare of all animals involved in fulfilling the purposes of the

Trust;

(vi) Assessing facilities and placements within the community that volunteers and their pets will visit as to suitability for carrying out the purposes of the Trust;

(vii) Working collaboratively with facilities and organisations throughout the community

that align with the purposes of the Trust;

(viii) Fostering diversity and cultural inclusivity by encouraging people from all nationalities to volunteer and engage with the services provided by the Trust; and

(ix) Maintaining a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, respecting the dual heritage of the partners to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
